About

Therapy is for YOU, your goals, your desire for change, your future.

My role is to provide a sense of safety and a friendly environment for you to begin the journey towards a better life.

Many pursue or restart therapy for a variety of reasons. Life transitions are causing a sense of self-doubt or fear. Relationship issues are becoming too difficult to handle alone. Difficulties in personal life or work/school are causing an abrupt need for adjustment. It’s all too overwhelming.

“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
–Wayne Dyer

Waiting until “rock bottom” is not the only time to come to therapy. Making the phone call before things get really bad is a great way to prevent issues from getting worse and crises from occurring.

For relationship counseling, the best time to come to therapy is when you feel the initial moment of “disconnection.” Just like plumbing, it’s easier to call in a professional to tighten “intimacy” valves or unclog “communication” backflow than to wait until a pipe bursts!

Despite the specific reason for pursuing therapy, each person comes with some degree of discomfort: often somewhere in between mild feelings of uneasiness to deep despair. Understandably, these people want a solution…they want to feel relief.

I am here to offer that relief.

Beginning

Like most difficult things, the most challenging part is to BEGIN. That’s why the idea of making a call is so daunting. But, calling can be the START of a new BEGINNING. Once the call happens, things will only improve from there.

“When you make a choice, you change the future.”
~ Deepak Chopra

Therapy is a meaningful opportunity for healing that I take very seriously. It’s been a privilege to be moved by the strength and vulnerability of each client who visits me. The courage it takes to acknowledge the need for change is what I respect most about the clients with whom I work.

The choice to take matters into their own hands and refusal to stay stuck is commendable. By coming to therapy, each client makes the decision to invest in themselves, and it drives them towards a transformative future.

About Me

I come from a family of therapists and helpers. Having this background has awarded me the opportunity to observe relationships of many kinds my whole life. Relationships fascinate me. I have grown up ingesting the empathy, compassion, and mental fortitude it requires to be a relationship counselor.

My strong passion for understanding relationships as a means for knowing why people do the things they do lead me to study Psychology and Child Development in my undergraduate education.

I went to college in the middle of the woods. However, within a matter of a month after graduating, I moved from having a mountain in my backyard to being in Upper West Side of Manhattan to pursue my Masters in Social Work from Columbia University. Talk about an abrupt transition, especially for a nature-lover at heart!

I spent two years getting lost in the streets of NY and finding my way back through my work with families in the Bronx and Brooklyn. Family therapy in these contexts made me even more aware that I wanted to spend my life as a relationship counselor.

What better way to do that than to get my Marriage and Family Therapy training? When it comes to MFT training, you can’t get better than Council for Relationships (CFR) in Philadelphia, literally where Family Therapy was born in 1932! I became part of the CFR family, and I let my passion for working in relationships to guide me more, pursuing training in Sex Therapy at CFR and working for several years doing in-home family therapy in the Philadelphia area.

Born and raised in Philadelphia and coming back after many years, I can’t seem to get enough of Philadelphia and school. I decided to pursue my Doctorate in Clinical Social Work at University of Pennsylvania.

After a few years in the New York/Connecticut area, my family and I are settled in Pennsylvania; however, I still see clients remotely who live in NY, NJ, and CT.

Being licensed in PA, NY, NJ, and CT, I decided I wanted to continue to work with individuals there via HIPAA compliant online therapy. I’ve been practicing online therapy for awhile now as another option for clients. They have found it transformative to the therapeutic process with these clients. I’ve conducted individual and couples’ sessions online with much success. Some clients even prefer that method! I continue to offer that option, which is explained more in my FAQ page.

During my free time, I can be found on outings with my two children, walking my pup, hiking, or cooking. My philosophy in life is “just keep moving,” and I have done that by any means necessary.
